Fledgling businesses ready to fly

Three fledgling businesses being helped to get established in a Gloucester City Council 'incubator' scheme - are ready to fly the nest.

The young companies all took space at Quays Creative a specially established supported office facility at Gloucester Docks for the creative industry.

The scheme has been set up by the council's economic development team and provides low cost office facilities.
It is supported by Nexus, a business scheme run jointly by Gloucestershire College and the University of Gloucestershire, along with the Gloucestershire Media Group a network of established firms in the creative industry.

Now within six months the young entrepreneurs have outgrown the space and are ready to move into bigger premises.

UKKO Clothing run by Nick Hovey has increased business so fast that he is ready to take on his first employee and move into a bigger space.
Tracey Ayers started Jonti Telemarketing from scratch and is ready to employ her first member of staff.

CadMan is a 3D and product design company run by Stuart Holland who is leaving to work on two large design contracts with UK manufacturers.
Commented Nick Hovey:" This has been the ideal environment for me and has made a huge impact on the development of my business. It's affordable and provides everything you need to start up. I'd definitely recommend it."

Council Leader, Paul James, commented: " It is fantastic to see young businesses use our facilities and take off in this way. This is exactly what Quays Creative was designed to do.

"Gloucester Docks is becoming a focus for creative businesses. As one of Britain's oldest inland ports its transformation continues and it is more than playing its part in helping us become a thriving 21st century city."
